Friends4Kids-OperationHOBO (Helping Others Before Ourselves)

We have 93 boys and 92 girls from the Village Academy Head Start Program that are in need of our help this year. They are 3-5 years old and enjoy new toys and books. Our goal is 600 toys and books again this year. Also, we have 35 teachers and aids that we would like to give a small token of our appreciation to this year, if you have any items that you would like to "Regift" please let us know. (candles, perfumes, things you received but necessarily want or need) These teachers are amazing with the students...

We are planning on delivery the toys on December 14, 2012, if you have new toys or would like to make a donation please email or call us directly. 561-212-0724.

Village Academy is the only school in Palm Beach County that has Head Start through 12th Grade. A child can come at the age of 3 years old and never have to leave. We are collecting new toys for 3-5 year olds.

1000 New Books donated to Florence Fuller Library

500   New Books donated to Wayne Barton Community Center

A heartfelt thanks to everyone that continues to help our grass root effort to make a difference in our community. Literacy remains our focus as well as making a difference in a child's life by providing them a holiday sesason filled with fond memories of strangers helping them.

This year 2011 Friends4kids has already donated THOUSANDS of new books to Florence Fuller Library, Boynton Beach Charter School, Wayne Barton Community Center and DOTSuccess.

Special thanks to our Angel, who wishes to remain anonymous but provides us new books each year for "OUR KIDS".

About Us:

KidzHelpinKidz or as we are known now as: Friends4kids-operationhobo.com began in November 2001 when Luke Barron a Boca Raton youngster was watching the movie “Oliver Twist” and asked his parents if poor children like that really existed, or were they only in books and movies?  Realizing that some children can actually go without toys for the holidays, then five years old, Luke decided to do something about it.

He began small fund raising activities on his own, such as buying bulk candy bars at Costco and selling them door-to-door.  Along with making sales to his neighbors, other children joined Luke in his very basic and genuine philanthropic activities.  Soon, garage sales were being done, toy drives were organized and donations were made from many friends and family. “It’s not about Luke, it’s about helping the children in the community that are less fortunate” and these kids that we have selected are below poverty level, said Gina Barron

The funds collected are used to buy toys and books . Whatever the kids raise the parents match to make sure that no child goes without a new toy. Everything is donated, from wrapping paper to tape to the toys all the way to the entertainment provided each year. The many volunteers then go to the facilities: Delray Full Service Center and Florence Fuller  and directly distribute these toys to less fortunate children . Luke dresses as Santa Clause and the other members are elves. This activity has grown over the past years, and over 600 toys are given away.
